We have just learned about the whole Netlabel concept and we are very glad to have done so because we share the same philosophy. We are a brand new Community of artists who share the same dream: to set the music free. And just like you, we believe that music should be free in all senses. This means that not only shouldn’t people have to pay for it, but artists should have freedom to create whatever they want and however they want to. There should also be freedom for open bonds to be created among the community, for everyone to discover new music and artists to share their talent and work. Indeed, as a Community we believe that all of this can be done, and actually give away music for free while still earning a fixed, direct income on each download for the artists. It’s only fair. How? Thanks to the support of sponsorships, just like in almost every other entertainment field and media out there. It’s actually rather simple. Everything is always free for everybody, and artists earn money on each download because users can browse and find what they want, and when they choose to make a download a brief spot shows up (just like those in TV). This is the brand paying the artist, who in turn gets to keep his independence and ownership of his work. Everybody wins.
We would love it if you could make us a visit. We are New Melodies, and we live in http://www.newmelodies.com. Free song downloads will open in August 1st, but you can already take a tour, check the whole concept and experience it. Above all, as music producers, we would love to have you join our community; not only because we are always eager to have new talent on board, but particularly because we share the same vision and we reckon we can create a model where, together, we can set the music free, for everybody, forever.
You believe in free music and are already acting upon it. You should feel proud of yourselves because this spirit actually feeds the value of music and its true artistic nature. We also believe in free music and are proposing a model for building an amazing community to help this become the ultimate model for music distribution in the future.
