Sleepmakeswaves / Tangled Thoughts of Leaving – split LP

Posted by lostchildrennetlabel on November 22, 2009

It’s been a while, but good things come to those who wait. Hailing from opposite ends of Australia, Perth’s Tangled Thoughts of Leaving and Sydney’s sleepmakeswaves are proud to present you with a shiny new split LP. It’s a record from two bands that are very different yet one that finds an equilibrium between the seemingly disparate tendencies of the two groups. Although both bands find common ground in their latent electronic influences, sleepmakeswaves marry these ideas to their characteristic brand of energetic and uplifting instrumental rock while Tangled Thoughts of Leaving pursue a relentlessly improvisatory, innovative path. The results are more foreboding yet no less spectacular, and are all the more reason to watch for their debut full lengths, slated for 2010.

Tracklisting :

1. Sleepmakeswaves – Keep Your Splendid Silent Sun
2. Sleepmakeswaves – We Sing The Body Electric
3. Sleepmakeswaves – This Is How We Remember (Secret Robot)
4. Tangled Thoughts of Leaving – A Vexing Predicament
5. Tangled Thoughts of Leaving – The World Is A Deaf Machine

Hoarder Myna – Rememberable Rifts

Posted by lostchildrennetlabel on October 10, 2009

‘Rememberable Rifts’, the debut EP from progressive Leeds 3 piece Hoarder Myna, is an immensely tight, crisp sounding debut from another great UK band blurring, and expanding, the definition of Math Rock.

Each song flows constantly, moving from one idea to the next, the roving guitar lines intertwine with the melodic bass patterns, underpinned by drums playing stacatto lead flourishes and driving rhythm simultaneously, before all comes together in harmonic unity. It may take many listens to fully understand the genius behind each movement, but good music should lend itself to repeat listens.

Tracklisting :

1. Ham Wallet
2. Dressed My Arsehole To Look Like An Arsehole
3. Hoarder Me A New Direction Darling
4. Basil The Great Mouse Detective / Search for Mufassa
5. Drama Weary Johns
6. More He She’s Please

Fugue – Ancient Glass

Posted by lostchildrennetlabel on August 28, 2009

Fugue presents an arduous journey through a quagmire of genre confusion and deceivingly orchestrated pieces of music. There’s something for everyone on this splendid 17 and a half minute adventure through a veritable sonic paradise.

Tracklisting :

1. How the Grass and Trees Became Enlightened
2. The Sleep of Reason Produces Monsters
3. Telemachus

Tangled Thoughts of Leaving – Tiny Fragments

Posted by lostchildrennetlabel on May 4, 2009

Tangled Thoughts of Leaving’s music is progressive by nature. The inclusion of sparse influences, guided by concept and fused together, is the conception of their own sound, as each musicians respective inspirations force the collective into unchartered territory.

After several years of existence and growth, mid 2007 saw Tangled Thoughts of Leaving construct themselves a purpose built, make shift creative space.

A medium sized room, dedicated to forward thinking; the birth of new sound. In that very room, what was previously theory, became reality, and so began the Process of four people leaving mediocrity behind them.

In the months of January, February and March of 2008, TToL used their creative space to record a concept, aptly titled ‘Tiny Fragments’. This EP was to represent their current thought process. They gave themselves a series of themes, ideas from a previously recorded improvisation and a set amount of time. What followed was roughly 3 months of sporadic sessions, in which the 18 minute, 3 part title track was written and recorded.

With the creation of Tiny Fragments the band have demonstrated that they would rather risk potential failure than never pursue the invention of interesting art. Tiny Fragments was an experiment and is the final step before they put a short lived emphasis on live performance, then return to the studio to record their debut album.

If you would like a CD version of ‘Tiny Fragments’, you can order one from here.

Tracklisting :
1. Tiny Fragments Part One
2. Tiny Fragments Part Two
3. Tiny Fragments Part Three
4. The Banshee

wecollectskies – Adventures of the Lost

Posted by lostchildrennetlabel on December 9, 2008

“I don’t really have a bio for it, apart from that it’s a collection of tracks that were lost on my old comp”

Great words from Josh Elliott, mastermind of wecollectskies’ electronic progressive post-rock metal hybrid sound. Yeah, that many genres. Some more (and better) words from Josh :

“wecollectskies has been a venture for just over a year. From one to three members but we see everyone as a element or member. To many emotions, tears, sweat, blood and pride have always gone into it, but it has made it what it is today. The same moral principles from the very start have been kept; “to make music we/I want to hear and what is individual to the heart”. We choose never to collect an ego, status, follow trends or scenes and we are still the same people and that will always continue. From one member to more members, we will always be us whether its one or two/three/four left standing. We have made some amazing friends, on and off the internet/stage that we will always regard as the closest and the people that inspire us. The internet is a small fraction of what we do and believe in, but every comment, message, add, blog etc…means a lot. We really appreciate any help or advice and always will!”

Tracklisting :
1. I Am With The Lost
2. And Now I’m Found
3. Sail To The Wind
4. What Dreams May Come
5. Interlude
6. Captain We Are Sinking
7. We Collect Skies
8. Four Letter Stride
9. Red Letter Day
10. We Will Make It Home
11. The Start of The End

Loss of a Child : Hundred Million Angels

Posted by lostchildrennetlabel on April 6, 2008

‘Hundred Million Angels’ is the fourth release from Loss of a Child, following on from the three albums all previously released on Lost Children. A single track clocking in at just over 20 minutes qualifies ‘Hundred Million Angels’ as an EP but the lack of repetition and wide breath of ideas ensure that this EP is in no way short-changing anyone, experimental through its strict structure and detailed song writing as opposed to the freedom and improvisation of many instrumental acts.

Complex instrumentation hidden beneath simple ideas, dynamism created within the melodies in addition to volume, and the standard multi-instrumental Loss of a Child approach providing many hidden melodic passages requiring repeat listening to find and understand, but each proving that the obvious is not necessarily the best when it comes to musical depth.

There is also a FLAC version of ‘Hundred Million Angels’ available for those audiophiles who appreciate the dynamic range of music aided by the deft under-production. Download from here : Hundred Million Angels FLAC version.

1. Hundred Million Angels

From The Sky : A Warm Place With No Memory

Posted by lostchildrennetlabel on March 9, 2008

‘A Warm Place With No Memory’ is From The Sky’s third release and displays a huge progression from their previous work, upping the complexity and ambition whilst retaining the melodic hooks, short compositions and detailed structure which sets them apart in the Post-Rock landscape.

Multiple influences combine to produce a cohesive yet varied EP, from melodic passages to heavy riffs, rhythmic math to soaring post-rock noise. ‘A Warm Place….’ shifts from pin-drop quiet to crashing distortion encompassing everything in between and is definitely From The Sky’s best release so far.

Tracklisting :
1. Delusions of Grandeur
2. She Who Stares
3. To The Friend I Once Knew
4. Lost In The Woods

Sidearm : Don’t Cry Help Until You’re Dead

Posted by lostchildrennetlabel on August 25, 2007

Band members:

Allen/Walker/Mitchell/Moore

“Don’t cry help until you’re dead” – words said by the pond on a beautiful summers evening; words that would christen our debut EP. These 5 songs come from two separate recording sessions in 2003/2004. These sessions were some of the best fun we’ve had in our lives. The best times however are when we have the opportunity to play these songs to appreciative folk at various small and intimate venues across the UK.

Someone said this about us once:

“Melodic jump-drop indie crash-out”

We like that description. But have a listen and make up your own mind. Because that’s what we do it for.

Much love
Sidearm

Tracklisting :
1. Follow Augustus, He’s Going To Be King
2. Precede the Map
3. Peach Garden
4. Jeremy’s Parking Only
5. Victim Junkie
